Marie A. Fox started Fox Counseling & Associates in 2010. As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) she has experience working as a therapist for over 11 years. After completing her Masters in Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in Interpersonal Practice from the University of Michigan in 2000, Marie explored her passion for helping people by working with youth, adult substance abusers, and people with serious mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, domestic violence and others (click to view more).

In the early 80's Marie learned about and started practicing Yoga herself. Her love and curiosity for yoga grew into a passion for it fueled by an intense desire to know more about how it works so well in helping people feel better. She read many books about meditation and yoga but by 2003 she decided to teach yoga and earned her Yoga Teacher certification through the teacher training program at the Center for Yoga with Jonny Kest and started teaching classes.

Her interest in yoga as a therapeutic tool continued to drive Marie to investigate Yoga Therapy which she discovered in her personal search and subsequent friendship with Suzy Ran. In 2010 Marie started to train for the Yoga Therapist certificate at Yoga Therapy of Michigan, with Suzy, adding Yoga Therapy to her counseling and therapy skills. Yoga therapy encompasses meditation, breathing, diet, and mind as well as many body practices. A result of this training is that Marie is able to help you release what isn’t working and explore new options. She walks with you on your recovery journey to heal the past, and clarify obstructive patterns and habits. This can help you to move forward, ready to embrace the wholeness, possibilities and potential that are your essential being. She will take the time to learn about your situation and, as she is able to tune into your unique struggles, will help you find your way out of them. She helps you untangle your internal conflicts. She will use a combination of strategies suited to your preferences including any of those listed on this website.
